Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. Coors Field is dope for DFS, but you likely don't need me to tell you that. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Chicago Cubs
Now that the Chicago Cubs have clinched, we have legitimately zero idea what their lineup will look like on a daily basis. This obviously has big implications for stacking, but they're in a spot today where you'd almost want to use them regardless against Tim Adleman.
In looking at Adleman's peripherals, there are a few things that you like. His 10.0% swinging-strike rate since rejoining the rotation indicates his 13.5% strikeout rate should be much higher, and it puts less faith in his 5.25 SIERA. That's not what draws us here, though. Instead, our focus is on the 36.9% hard-hit rate and 11.7% soft-hit rate against him with a 45.0% fly-ball rate. Even if the Cubs sit some of their regulars, those who do play are going to have sick upside.
Willson Contreras has seen his playing time go down recently, but when he has played, he has been turning things around. In a limited sample of 61 plate appearances the past month, Contreras has a 40.5% hard-hit rate and 16.7% soft-hit rate, improving from 28.4% and 19.7%, respectively, prior to that. Given Adleman's batted-ball issues, Contreras would be in a good spot to further those strides tonight.
