We know that people play all sorts of fantasy platforms, not just from from our friends at StarStreet but on other platforms such as FanDuel, Draft Kings, and Fantasy Feud as well. So once again, we have four optimized rosters, all for you, the numberFire reader. One is for free here; the others can be found in our Premium section.
As always, the full tables for today's action are available at our Daily Fantasy Projections page. Make sure to check it out to see where the best values are for your team.
Our baseball projections are updated throughout the day, so make sure to come back to double-check your optimized rosters for any last-minute lineup changes. Since most action happens later in the day, we will be ignoring the early games (if there are any) and focusing solely on the late contests. That way, you can use and tinker with our optimized rosters throughout the day.

The Top Three PitchersJulio Teheran – Teheran is finally putting together the breakout season that everyone expected when he was ranked the fifth best prospect in all of baseball by Baseball America in 2011. He’s got a 2.96 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 137 innings, plus a great case for the NL Rookie of the Year award, despite what that Puig guy has to say. And he’s facing the Phillies tonight, who rank just 12th in the NL in runs scored. Oh, and the Braves are on an absolute roll, winning 17 of their last 20. Danny Salazar – Salazar has burst onto the scene for Cleveland, fanning 17 batters in his first 13 major league innings. In those innings, he’s only walked two hitters, giving him an incredible 8.5 K/BB ratio to start his career. Those numbers figure to get a boost tonight against a Twins team that ranks 12th in the AL in runs, but 2nd in strikeouts. Chris Sale – Sale is a familiar name around these parts, as he should be. His 2.77 ERA ranks 6th in the AL and his 9.70 K/9 is fourth. Yeah, he’s facing a tough Tigers lineup, but he’s facing them at home, where he has a miniscule 2.07 ERA on the year. If you need another reason to start him, consider this: Sale played at Florida Gulf Coast, this year’s NCAA tournament surprise team. Top High-Priced HittersMiguel Cabrera – You already know plenty about the best player in baseball. (Maybe second-best if you like an argument.) But did you know: this weekend, Cabrera became the first player ever to homer off Mariano Rivera in consecutive plate appearances. King, meet kingslayer. Oh, and Cabrera’s homered in three straight games and four of his last five. Robinson Cano – Garrett Richards has a bit of a problem on his hands: He’s facing Robinson Cano tonight. Richards, who owns a decent 4.20 ERA on the year, has given up a .791 OPS to lefties for his career. Cano, who just happens to bat left-handed, has a career .889 OPS versus righties. Yikes. Cano should be a solid start with the extremely favorable matchup working in his favor. Cost-Effective Mid-Range HittersMatt Wieters – The switch-hitting Wieters has been better against lefties in his career, posting an .807 OPS versus a .717 mark against righties. He’s facing a lefty tonight in Wade Miley. He’s also a good source of power at catcher – his 15 home runs rank second among AL backstops. Dexter Fowler – Fowler and the Rockies face Edinson Volquez, who is in Year Five of not being an effective major league pitcher. Volquez has a lovely 5.44 ERA this season, and he’s fared worse against lefties. (Fowler is a switch-hitter.) For the year, Volquez has allowed lefties to slug .460 off him, and put up a .357 wOBA. |
