4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/23/16
The Houston Astros are hard to trust given their high-strikeout ways, but they've got immense potential at home tonight. Which other offenses should we target in MLB DFS?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Houston Astros

Alex Meyer can load up on strikeouts, and that's a frightening proposition against an offense like this. When he doesn't get that third strike, though, the brown stuff hits the fan in a hurry, giving the Houston Astros gobs of upside tonight.

In his three starts with the Los Angeles Angels, Meyer is rocking a 28.3% strikeout rate, which would be more conducive to use as a pitcher rather than a target for stacking. However, his swinging-strike rate -- which stabilizes more quickly -- is just 8.5% over that time, meaning he's due for some sickly regression going forward. When that happens, his 17.0% walk rate and 44.8% hard-hit rate will be more glaring issues than they already are, and we'll want exposure to the offense that brings out that reality.

It seems as if Marwin Gonzalez has locked down the sixth spot in the Astros' batting order, and he earned that job security with mammo taters like these.

He has 91 plate appearances over the past month, and he has turned them into a 39.3% hard-hit rate and 11.5% soft-hit rate. His first-base eligibility on FanDuel should drag his ownership down due to the big names at the position, but he deserves a look in a matchup like this.
