The Top Three Pitchers

Yusmeiro Petit – This will be Petit's fifth start this season, and over his first four, he's captured a 3-0 record with a 2.36 ERA. The Mets aren't known for their bats, scoring three or less runs in their last nine games and posting the third-worst batting average among MLB teams. Expect a nice outing for Petit.

Roy Halladay – Hey, against the Marlins, can't anyone be unhittable? Florida's home to the worst batting average in baseball; the team is hitting just .231 this season. Enter Roy Halladay, who isn't the Halladay of old, but could be a nice daily value play against the hapless Marlins. Keep in mind: Florida's posted three runs over their last three games.

Sonny Gray – The Angels, Gray's opponent tonight, are winners of six of their last seven and pounded the A's 12-1 yesterday. Sonny Gray, however, has been lights out at home in limited time, posting an ERA of just 1.21. We like him to calm the Halos tonight.

Top High-Priced Hitters

Andrew McCutchen – The Pirates need McCutchen to help wake up their bats after a 2-0 loss to the Padres last night. Why can't he? Over the second half of 2013, Cutch is batting an absurd .361 and is facing a pitcher who hasn't won since mid-July in Eric Stults.

Shin-Soo Choo – Choo is a much better batter at home than he is on the road, but we still like him in Houston tonight. The Astros lead the majors in BB/9, leading us to believe that Choo will have a lot of opportunity to get on base tonight. After all, he had three walks on five at bats in last night's series opener.

Cost-Effective, Mid-Range Hitters

Todd Helton – Helton's batting just .184 in September, but has a hit in seven of his last eleven games. We like him at home tonight to at least get a walk, and his daily value is so cheap that you can afford bigger plays elsewhere.

Carlos Beltran – Beltran's not the most cost-effective hitter in the world, but he brings good value to daily leagues in Colorado tonight. He's been slumping of late, so keep that in mind, but the Rockies pitching leads the majors in BABIP.
