The Top Three Pitchers

Alex Wood – Wood scores well with our algorithms tonight, as he's one of the most likely guys to get a win at a very cost-effective price. We're thinking he can bring back that August magic, where he posted a 0.90 ERA in 30 innings pitched. Hopefully the Braves skipping him last week in the rotation will help him get to that level.

Danny Salazar – The Indians' thrower has pitched just a little over 40 innings this year and has a Yu Darvish-like K/9 at 11.95. He'll more than likely see limited work, but is still worth a lineup slot in daily fantasy tonight.

Charlie Morton – The Pirates have already dropped the first two games of a four-game series against the Padres, so they're in desperate need for a big outing from Morton. The Buccos pitcher was solid the last time out, and if he can get some run support tonight, he should be in store for a W.

Top High-Priced Hitters

Yasiel Puig – Puig is batting just .224 in September, and has been held hitless in his last three games. He's had a BABIP in September of .242 as well. However, against the D'Backs tonight, we think Puig can turn things around and see his first hit in half a week.

Paul Goldschmidt – In the same game, Paul Goldschmidt is a great play as well. He's been lighting it up as of late, hitting .339 in the month of September. Goldy's also got a seven-game hit streak going where he has two four-hit games. You'll want part of that in daily fantasy.

Cost-Effective, Mid-Range Hitters

Manny Machado– Machado's batting just .211 in September, down from his great .321 average in August. However, he's got a pair of multi-hit games over his last three, including two doubles. This could be the upswing he needs to get back to his August numbers.

Carlos Ruiz – Ruiz has eight hits over his last four games, and has hit significantly better at home versus away this season. From a value perspective, Ruiz's low cost is worth a play tonight against a mediocre Nathan Eovaldi and the Marlins.
