Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, we will not be including tonight's game at Coors Field here. As you saw last night, Coors is an offensive haven, and you probably don't need to be told that you want exposure to the guys hitting there. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
St. Louis Cardinals
Join me, everyone, in sending dry, rain-free vibes to the entire city of St. Louis. There aren't many stacking options today, and easily the best on the board is projected for rain out the yang. Let's cross our fingers and hope that the St. Louis Cardinals get a chance for some hacks against Mat Latos because they could do serious damage.
Update: Our rain dance didn't work. Jump down to the rest of the article for stacks still in play tonight.

Latos made his season debut last week, and although he lasted five innings, things didn't go well. He walked three batters and hit another while recording just one strikeout with a 6.3% swinging-strike rate. Of the 20 balls in play, 8 were hard-hit, a continuation of what was a wretched 2016 for Latos. The Cardinals aren't exactly off to the hottest start, but they're good enough to poke holes in Latos' repertoire.
It's still a bit early for us to spot players who have definitively made improvements at the plate. But through his first 57 plate appearances against righties, Stephen Piscotty is looking really solid.
Versus Righties | Hard-Hit Rate | Fly-Ball Rate | Strikeout Rate | Walk Rate |
---|---|---|---|---|
2016 | 33.6% | 33.7% | 22.3% | 6.3% |
2017 | 38.5% | 36.8% | 17.5% | 12.3% |
Because the sample is so small, all of this could flip in an instant for Piscotty. Regardless, dude is posting some pretty saucy peripherals. He's just $3,300 on FanDuel, and even though that's not a bargain price, it means pairing him with guys like Matt Carpenter, Aledmys Diaz, and Jedd Gyorko won't drain your salary cap while providing plenty of pop. Let's just hope they get this game in.
