Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals are in a wee bit of a rut. Over the past three weeks, they rank 29th in wRC+ and have just a .350 slugging percentage in that time. Firmly sub-Gucci. But they're getting a park-factor boost in heading to Cincinnati today, and Asher Wojciechowski is a big fan of fly balls. That could be enough to snap them out of this slump.
Wojciechowski has made just one start in the majors this year, and it didn't exactly go as planned. He got bounced after just four innings, giving up three dingers to the Toronto Blue Jays. In that one, Wojciechowski's swinging-strike rate was just 7.3%, which would be mighty concerning. The common trend for him is fly balls, of which there will be many. Before his promotion from Triple-A, Wojciechowski had a 54.0% fly-ball rate against, and in a limited big-league career, his mark is 55.7%. When you're pitching at Great American Ballpark, that's a big ol' pile of risk, and it means we should be willing to check out the Cardinals despite their skid.
On a slate that's largely devoid of value, we have to dig to find low-cost bats. The Cardinals don't help us much in that regard, outside of one sterling exception, who got his big-league career started in a decent fashion.
First career at-bat?
Make it memorable, Paul DeJong. pic.twitter.com/mt0FIZ4cfu

That's Paul DeJong, who's filling in at second base for the injured Kolten Wong. DeJong -- the former Illinois State Redbird who was recently promoted from the Memphis Redbirds to play for a team whose mascot is a red bird -- was raking down in Triple-A with 11 dingers and a .294/.331/.541 slash when he got the call. He is likely to bat seventh, which is a bit lower than we'd normally like, but his pop against Wojciechowski's fly-ball ways can get us all jittery when the price is just $2,500 on FanDuel.
