MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Saturday 7/8/17
Jake Arrieta is coming off seven innings of one-hit ball, and he has a sweet matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Does that make him the main slate's top arm?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today. We'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate, which begins at 7:15 p.m. and includes Saturday's last eight games.

High-Priced Pitchers

Jake Arrieta ($9,700 on FanDuel): Arrieta is fresh off a seven-inning, one-hit gem in his last outing, and he gets a home date with the Pittsburgh Pirates, a squad which sits 26th in wOBA (.305) this season. Arrieta has had an interesting and disappointing campaign, but he still owns a robust 24.3% strikeout rate and decent 4.01 SIERA. He's probably overpriced as the day's most expensive arm, but the matchup and his recent form -- eight total runs allowed over his last four outings -- help us stomach the salary. Our models have him as the slate's top-ranked arm, but there are a few quality options tonight.
