4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 8/22/17
The Cubs offense will look to stay hot against the struggling Homer Bailey. Is that enough to make them the top stacking option in daily fantasy baseball on Tuesday?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Chicago Cubs

It feels like the roller coaster of the 2017 Chicago Cubs season has taken a lot of turns, and this recent run of play by the offense seems to be shaping them back up into form to separate from the rest of the National League Central.

Over the last 14 days, Chicago ranks seventh in team wOBA (.351), and they've got a fantastic matchup on tap Tuesday evening to continue padding that number.

Homer Bailey, returning from injury, has endured a bumpy season. He's logged a 5.43 SIERA over 53 1/3 innings pitched, but a 10.1% swinging-strike rate is nothing to scoff at. It's important to point out, though, that he's had a hard time inducing soft contact (16.5% soft-hit rate allowed).

When we see that both lefties (.500 slugging percentage) and righties (.612 slugging percentage) have had powerful results against Bailey, everyone on the Cubs is in play.

While it'll be tough to roster studs like Kris Bryant ($4,300) and Anthony Rizzo ($4,500) together, there are several cheap options that can make a stack pretty appealing. For instance, if rookie Ian Happ ($3,200) is in the lineup, it'd be a good idea to take advantage of all the pop in that swing of his.

The rookie has already slugged 18 homers on the year, and he makes for a great option despite the somewhat erratic playing time.

Albert Almora Jr. batted leadoff on Sunday, and he's been on fire recently, posting a 170 wRC+ over the last two weeks. He can be on your squad for just $2,500. Jon Jay is another inexpensive option to consider for the stack, too. While he's posted a .295 batting average against lefties, it's come without any power (.033 ISO). However, he's fared far better against righties in the power department (.108 ISO), and at $2,600, he makes it easy to afford at least one of the high-priced studs.
