Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Kansas City Royals
Chris Sale is going to be a popular choice at $11,400 tonight, and the Kansas City Royals -- who are in a dope spot -- can help you afford him.
Lucas Giolito toes the slab tonight for the Chicago White Sox, and he has been absolutely brutal this year. Over 20 innings, he's recorded a whopping 7.69 skill-interactive SIERA, 9.1% strikeout rate and 19.2% walk -- that isn't going to lead to a lot of success. Fire in a 52.2% fly-ball rate, and it's party time for KC's bats.
Lefties have pounded Giolito for a 37.0% hard-hit rate and 51.9% fly-ball rate, so they will get the lean here, and it helps that the Royals currently sport the highest implied total (4.69) of the main slate.
Mike Moustakas seems to be a near lock at $4,000, and he is crushing the baseball with the platoon advantage. In 2018, he's mashed his way to a .423 ISO, 53.2% hard-hit rate, and 50.0% fly-ball rate against righties. A year ago, Moustakas had a .353 wOBA and 47.0% fly-ball rate in the split.
Lucas Duda is priced down at $2,400 thanks to a .295 wOBA in 2018, but he should be considered as part of the stack. Even though his overall numbers aren't pretty so far, Duda is still slamming righties with a .375 wOBA, 38.9% hard-hit rate, and 41.7% fly-ball rate.
Not a lefty, Salvador Perez ($3,000) returned from the disabled list, and he's been a strong performer in his career against same-sided arms. He owned a .333 wOBA in the split a year ago (versus a .319 wOBA mark against lefties), and Perez complemented it with a 36.7% hard-hit rate and 45.2% fly-ball rate.
