Prop betting odds can be useful in daily fantasy sports to help gauge the potential performance of a player on any given night in the MLB. Likewise, the same principles can be applied in the opposite direction -- by using our fantasy projections and models to help make more informed prop bets.
Using the odds available at Bovada Sportsbook, here are three prop bets available tonight that are good plays based on our daily MLB game projections.
Please note that Vegas lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.
Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox
Mookie Betts OVER 2.5 Runs, Hits, and RBI (-130)
Of all the hitters on this smaller night slate of DFS Monday, our models have Mookie Betts atop our projections when it comes to FanDuel points. That can also work well projecting his prop odds from Bovada sportsbook.
He owns an insane .483 wOBA and .388 isolated power versus left-handed pitching this season, so a matchup with Mike Minor represents a big green light on Betts. Minor is allowing righties to sport a .373 wOBA this year, and our models project Betts for a combined 3.73 runs, hits, and RBIs.
Cincinnati Reds at Cleveland Indians
Mike Clevinger OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-150)
Mike Clevinger has been downright filthy this season for the Cleveland Indians, with a 3.19 FIP and his opponents posting a wOBA well under .300. He gets the Cincinnati Reds, who do have a strong offense, but our models still like Clevinger's side of this prop.
The Reds own a 20.9% strikeout rate as a team this season, while Clevinger is posting a 22.5% strikeout rate at home and 25.0% strikeout rate at home against righties. Our models project Clevinger for 6.37 strikeouts tonight in Cleveland.
Chicago Cubs at San Francisco Giants
Brandon Crawford UNDER 2 Runs, Hits, and RBI (-115)
Brandon Crawford may be starting for the National League All-Star team and having a career year, but his Monday matchup against right-hander Kyle Hendricks is a really tough one.
Crawford does have a pair of extra base hits off of Hendricks in his career, but Hendricks is limiting left-handers to a .314 wOBA this season across 175 batters faced. Our models are siding with Hendricks, projecting Crawford for 1.85 combined runs, hits, and RBIs.
