A 14-game main slate awaits us on Friday, and while we have a plethora of viable hurlers to choose from, Gerrit Cole and Masahiro Tanaka stand out at the top. We get another tilt between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies at Coors, but with Kenta Maeda and Jon Gray taking the hill, this isn't necessarily a must-play spot. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox also draw appealing matchups.

Gerrit Cole ($10,500 on FanDuel): The Seattle Mariners aren't a cupcake matchup, and they demonstrated that in a big way by lighting up Justin Verlander on Thursday night. But we shouldn't shy away from rostering Gerrit Cole against them, who holds far and away the best season marks on the slate. Cole is showing a stellar 2.90 SIERA and 35.1% strikeout rate, and while free passes have occasionally been an issue, he's posted an encouraging 5.5% walk rate over three starts since the All-Star break. With the Mariners displaying a slate-low 3.16 implied team total, Cole is an ideal play in cash games.
