Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Atlanta Braves
Mike Montgomery is a thoroughly below average pitcher. He has a 4.51 SIERA as he's managed just an 8.8% swinging-strike rate. He just doesn't miss many bats, and that plays right into the Atlanta Braves' biggest strength.
Atlanta has crushed left-handed pitchers this year, as they are third in wRC+ (111) in that split. They do it by avoiding strikeouts, as just two teams strike out at a lower rate than Atlanta's 19.7% clip. They hit the ball well, too, as they rank 10th in hard-hit rate (36.3%) against southpaws like Montgomery.
At 20 years old, Ronald Acuna ($4,300) has a 41.2% fly-ball rate, 46.8% hard-hit rate, and 11 steals in just 80 games. Freddie Freeman ($3,900) has limited his strikeout rate to just 18.0%; and that's paired with a 42.2% hard-hit rate, which is why he is such a productive hitter on a nightly basis.
Nick Markakis ($3,700) wins in a similar way; he's got just a 10.9% strikeout rate to go with his 40.1% hard-hit rate. Meanwhile, the young Ozzie Albies ($3,600) owns a 16.8% strikeout rate, 39.8% fly-ball rate, and 36.2% hard-hit rate this year.
Ender Inciarte ($3,400) has a 13.0% strikeout rate, 30.2% hard-hit rate, and 24 steals this year, which brings some nice upside. Johan Camargo ($3,100) is another young talent for Atlanta. He's got a 37.1% hard-hit rate in his age-24 season.
