Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Washington Nationals
Jeff Brigham hasn't pitched many innings at the big league level this year, but so far it hasn't been pretty. He's allowed a 60.5% fly-ball rate and 39.5% hard-hit rate. Combining that with his 17.2% strikeout rate and 15.5% walk rate, that's good for an unholy 6.55 SIERA.
The Washington Nationals rank 2nd in baseball with a 9.8% walk rate against right-handed pitching. As a result, they rank 6th in wOBA (.325) in that split.
Bryce Harper ($4,600) may be playing his final handful of game in a Nationals uniform. If that is the case, he's going out with a bang, as he's got an 18.9% walk rate, 38.8% fly-ball rate, and 42.2% hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching this year. Trea Turner ($4,200) comes into play with a 17.9% strikeout rate, 31.9% hard-hit rate, and 42 steals. Anthony Rendon ($4,200) owns a 14.0% strikeout rate, 42.7% fly-ball rate, and 38.0% hard-hit rate.
19 year-old Juan Soto ($4,000) has a 146 wRC+ against righties, including a 17.6% walk rate, 19.8% strikeout rate, and 34.8% hard-hit rate. Adam Eaton ($3,700) has a 10.2% walk rate, 15.5% strikeout rate, 34.9% hard-hit rate, and 128 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Ryan Zimmerman ($3,000) enters play with a 39.8% hard-hit rate this year.
