We get another round of Coors Field tonight between the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies, and while you might not want to stack the Braves against German Marquez, the Rockies are definitely fair game against left-hander Max Fried with a slate-high 5.50 implied total. But if you want to try something different in tournaments, we have several choices on this 10-game main slate, including the Oakland Athletics, who pop off the page with a 5.34 implied total at Camden Yards.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As usual, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. You already know that you want bats at Coors when you can afford them, and you don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Arizona Diamondbacks
We'll get to the aforementioned Athletics in a minute, but let's begin with the Arizona Diamondbacks, who draw a solid matchup against lefty Mike Minor with a 4.61 implied total.
Overall, Minor put up respectable numbers last season, posting a 4.27 SIERA, 20.6% strikeout rate and 5.9% walk rate, and he's putting up rather similar peripherals to begin 2019. But what we're really interested in are his numbers versus right-handed hitters, which show a notable dip. When facing righty sticks in 2018, Minor allowed a 4.83 xFIP to go with a 37.5% hard-hit rate and 47.2% fly-ball rate.
A right-handed Arizona stack makes for a nice pivot off of Coors Field, and it can include cheaper bats like Wilmer Flores ($2,200), Christian Walker ($3,200), and Nick Ahmed ($3,200).
Flores was underwhelming against southpaws in 2018 but demolished them the three years prior with a 158 wRC+ across 324 plate appearances. We don't have a lengthy track record for Walker, though he tore it up in Triple-A the last couple of years and is in the 97th percentile in average exit velocity to start 2019. Since the beginning of 2017, Ahmed has put up a .358 wOBA and .220 ISO with the platoon advantage.
Ketel Marte ($3,900) is getting up there in price, but you'll definitely want to include him, as well. A popular season-long sleeper entering the season, Marte produced a .408 wOBA and .263 ISO against southpaws last season, and he's off to a nice start with a 41.7% hard-hit rate and 38.9% fly-ball rate.
Adam Jones ($3,700) is also viable as the leadoff man, although it's worth noting he's actually shown reverse splits over his career with a 96 wRC+ against lefties.
