For a five-game main slate, Thursday night comes with far more pitching than one would expect, especially considering the fairly limited choices we've seen lately on far large offerings. That doesn't mean there aren't a few appealing hitting spots, too, as the Red Sox and Mariners could put up some runs this evening.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.
On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.
Pitchers to Target
High-Priced Pitcher
Gerrit Cole ($10,600 on FanDuel): Given his 5.22 ERA, the results haven't quite been there for Gerrit Cole as often as we would like, but better days are ahead. His 2.91 SIERA, 35.8% strikeout rate, and 7.3% walk rate almost perfectly mirror his marks in those categories last year, and he boasts an impressive 15.7% swinging-strike rate, too. He draws a fantastic matchup against Cleveland, an unimposing offense that's mustered only the 27th-ranked wRC+ against righties (67) with a 25.0% strikeout rate. Those mighty peripherals should translate to a boatload of fantasy points tonight. His opponent, Trevor Bauer ($10,800), gets a tough matchup against Houston, but he's been on a roll and could still be worth a look in tournaments at likely lower ownership.
