Friday's 14-game slate could be quite the doozy on offense, with not one, but two teams with higher implied totals than the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Of course, stacking the Rockies against Eric Lauer is completely fair game, but they're hardly alone amongst tonight's top stacks.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As usual, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. You already know that you want bats at Coors when you can afford them, and you don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Los Angeles Angels
There's almost no question that the Los Angeles Angels will be very popular tonight, owning far and away the highest implied total of the night at 6.20 runs. That's a monster figure from a team we don't normally expect it from, but that's what happens when you draw Dan Straily and the hapless Baltimore Orioles.
Needless to say, Straily has struggled mightily this season with a horrific 7.43 ERA and 1.87 WHIP, and you don't have to dig very deep to figure out why. He owns a 6.43 SIERA, 9.8% strikeout rate, and 8.9% walk rate while allowing a 35.2% hard-hit rate and 50.5% fly-ball rate. Seeing as he also posted a 4.92 SIERA over 23 starts last season, we're not exactly expecting a dramatic turnaround anytime soon.
Add in a Baltimore bullpen that's been torched all year and a hitter-friendly venue in Camden Yards, and it's easy to see Mike Trout ($4,600) and his teammates piling it on tonight. Despite their expected popularity, the plethora of other stellar hitting spots will hopefully keep ownership from getting out of hand because this will be a tough one to fade.
Trout is a must, of course, and it doesn't hurt that beyond him, the rest of the lineup isn't terribly expensive, including plenty of left-handed options. Tommy La Stella ($3,100) and Shohei Ohtani ($3,500) will slot in on either side of Trout, while guys like Kole Calhoun ($3,400) and Justin Bour ($2,500) can provide some lefty pop lower in the order.
