Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.
Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for May 30.
Eddie Rosario, Minnesota Twins (OF)
at Tampa Bay Rays
FanDuel Price: $4,400
Is anyone hotter than the Minnesota Twins offense right now? Leading that charge is Eddie Rosario, who's smacked four home runs over his last six games.
Charlie Morton of the Tampa Bay Rays gets the task of slowing those bats down and Rosario may find it particularly difficult tonight. Against lefty batters this year, Morton owns a whopping 36.9% strikeout rate, including 29.3% hard-hit rate and 31.0% fly-ball rate.
There's been no slowing down this offensive machine, but the Twins lefty bats may be in for a challenge.
Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers (OF)
vs Pittsburgh Pirates
FanDuel Price: $4,700
Already owning a 20-homer, 10-steal season to his name for 2019, Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers has been downright absurd.
Perhaps lost in all of this is Yelich's poor performance outside of the state of Wisconsin. In road games this year, Yelich turns into a mere mortal with a .783 OPS and only four of his 21 home runs.
Unfortunately for Yelich, tonight's game is a road contest, and he faces Joe Musgrove, who's limited lefties to a .333 wOBA and 23.1% fly-ball rate.
All of that adds up to pivoting elsewhere in the outfield tonight.
Gary Sanchez, New York Yankees (C)
vs Boston Red Sox
FanDuel Price: $3,900
To make for a bit of a contrarian play, DFS players could see right-handed batters against Chris Sale of the Boston Red Sox as an interesting play. With 1.44 home runs per nine innings pitched (HR/9) allowed, finding some power is never a bad idea.
In this case, rostering a player like Gary Sanchez may not be the best bet. Sale has allowed all of his home runs to righties in 2019, but he's also posted a beautiful 34.5% strikeout rate and .288 wOBA in this split, even after a rough start.
In this key AL East matchup, searching for and rostering pop is always a smart play, but steer clear of Sanchez.
