Due to some quirky MLB scheduling, tonight's main slate is made up of three west coast games, so lock won't come around until 9:40pm ET. Despite the small set of games, we still get a couple notable names on the pitching front in Aaron Nola and Walker Buehler, while the Houston Astros stand out for our bats.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.
Pitchers to Target
High-Priced Pitchers
Aaron Nola ($9,600 on FanDuel): Aaron Nola checks in as the top choice at pitcher, not only drawing a better matchup than Walker Buehler but also costing $800 less. Nola has been a little hit or miss in 2019, showing the highest SIERA (4.12), walk rate (9.9%) and hard-hit rate (36.5%) of his career, though he's still getting punchouts at a solid clip (26.2%). He also saw improvement in the month of May, sporting a 3.84 SIERA and 29.6% strikeout rate across his last six outings. Whiffs shouldn't be too hard to find against the Padres, either, as their active roster is striking out 26.8% of the time against right-handers. They only own an 86 wRC+ in the split, too, so it isn't surprising to see them with a slate-low 3.51 implied total. In all, Nola checks all the right boxes on a short slate and comes away as tonight's safest option.
