We may have a mid-sized nine-game main slate on tap for Wednesday, but there's plenty of offense to like tonight. As of this writing, seven teams have implied totals of 4.70 or higher.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Houston Astros
After going through a lengthy stretch without George Springer ($4,400) and Jose Altuve ($3,800), the Houston Astros are back to being fully stocked and loaded, which could mean a short night for inexperienced Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Dario Agrazal.
Agrazal only has one MLB start under his belt from earlier this month, and it wasn't a particularly noteworthy one, allowing three runs (two earned) and six hits over 4.0 innings on the road against the light-hitting Miami Marlins.
Meanwhile, over nine starts in Triple-A this year, he's posted a ho-hum 4.28 xFIP and 20.3% strikeout rate, and he's never shown a high strikeout rate at any stage of the minors. He's managed a solid 54.3% ground-ball rate in Triple-A, but there otherwise isn't much to suggest he'll give the Astros much trouble.
And to make matters even better, if Agrazal is chased from the game early, the Pirates' bullpen isn't likely to show much resistance, either. They own the fifth-worst xFIP (4.71) among active rosters.
In addition to Springer and Altuve, your usual heavy-hitters like Alex Bregman ($4,000), Michael Brantley ($3,900), and elite prospect Yordan Alvarez ($4,300) pack some scary punch, and the bottom of the order offers up some salary relief from Yulieski Gurriel ($2,800), Josh Reddick ($2,800), Tyler White ($2,600), and Robinson Chirinos ($2,800).
If you're hoping to spend up on the Astros' big bats, Zac Gallen ($7,800) makes for a good low-cost pairing at pitcher.
