Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Minnesota Twins
Once again, the Minnesota Twins are in a fantastic spot as they have a 5.90 implied run total in an premium matchup against Cleveland Indians' right-hander Adam Plutko.
Plutko actually has an elite 5.0 percent walk rate, but that is about the end of the positive things to say about him this season. He has a lowly 16.1 percent strikeout rate while giving up a dreadful 2.06 homers per nine (HR/9). He is sporting a very lucky .256 BABIP with a 4.53 ERA despite his much worse 5.31 SIERA. He has given up an astonishing 47.7 percent fly-ball rate and a brutal 203-foot average batted-ball distance, which certainly explains the ugly home run numbers despite the surprisingly decent 30.1 percent hard-hit rate.
I won't spend too much time on some of the Twins sluggers in Nelson Cruz ($4,100), Miguel Sano ($3,900) and C.J. Cron ($3,300) as their numbers against right-handed pitchers were covered in length in my article yesterday. If Jorge Polanco ($3,800) is back in the lineup today, he's an intriguing play as the switch-hitter has put up a .384 wOBA and .211 ISO against righties -- though there isn't that much power here. If it's power you're looking for, left-handed Max Kepler ($3,500) is a good option at a decent price tag. With the platoon advantage, he has a .355 wOBA and .290 ISO to go with an 89.9 MPH average exit velocity and 196-foot average batted-ball distance.
Others worth considering, pending the Twins lineup, are Mitch Garver ($3,200), Luis Arraez ($2,600) and Eddie Rosario ($3,900).
