Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As usual, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. You already know that you want bats at Coors when you can afford them, and you don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Minnesota Twins
In what is an absolutely elite matchup, the Minnesota Twins take on the Chicago White Sox struggling right-hander Dylan Covey.
On the season, Covey has been horrendous — albeit in just 58.2 innings pitched. He has a brutal 10.0 percent walk rate and an equally terrible 14.6 percent strikeout rate. Additionally, he's giving up a modest 31.7 percent hard-hit rate, but a 26.1 percent line-drive rate which is the second-worst mark on the slate. His 5.68 SIERA and 1.84 HR/9 are also the second-worst marks on the slate.
These brutal numbers will allow two Statcast darlings to absolutely thrive. Nelson Cruz ($3,700) has been ridiculously powerful this season as he leads the Majors with a 12.2 percent barrels per plate appearance against both lefties and righties combined. Additionally, his 93.6 MPH average exit velocity ranks third against both splits combined. The other masher is Miguel Sano ($3,600) who sits seventh with a 10.4 barrels per plate appearance and second with a 94.3 MPH average exit velocity. Furthermore, Cruz has a .395 wOBA and .278 ISO against righties while Sano has an equally impressive .363 wOBA and elite .311 ISO in the same split.
Two other complete powerhouses against righties are Mitch Garver ($3,100) and Max Kepler ($3,300). Garver has smashed righty-righty matchups with a .373 wOBA and a team-best .337 ISO while left-handed Kepler has crushed righties with a .350 wOBA and .281 ISO. Kepler has not played since Saturday and is dealing with a shoulder issue. There is a real chance he misses tonight's game, so just make sure you check the lineups page before throwing Kepler, or anybody for that matter, in your lineup.
Other hitters worth considering in this matchup are Jorge Polanco ($3,300), Luis Arraez ($2,700), Eddie Rosario ($3,200) and C.J. Cron ($2,800).
