New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays

New York Yankees -1.5 (+118): 2 Stars out of 5

The New York Yankees face the Toronto Blue Jays in a day game on Wednesday afternoon, and they come into the game as fairly large favorites. The Yankees have one of the best offenses in baseball, and FanGraphs projects them to finish the year with 5.36 runs per game, which is the third highest in the league.

The Yankees also have the advantage in the starting pitching matchup with Corey Kluber facing Ross Stripling. Kluber has dealt with injury problems in recent years, but he boasts a career ERA of 3.17 and he has won two Cy Young awards. On the other side, Ross Stripling has a 3.85 career ERA but only posted a 5.84 ERA in 12 starts last season.

Our model projects the Yankees to win, and we give them a 56.57% likelihood to cover the 1.5 runline, making this a 2-star bet.

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee -1.5 (+116): 2 Stars out of 5

The Milwaukee Brewers send Corbin Burnes to the mound against the Chicago Cubs, and they should have a huge advantage, as he has emerged as one of the better pitchers in all of baseball. Burnes has a 1.88 ERA, 1.93 FIP, and 0.875 WHIP over 14 appearances from the last two seasons.

Jake Arrieta takes the hill for the Cubs, and he has had some strong high throughout his career, including the 2015 Cy Young Award, but he has fallen off slightly in recent years. Arrieta has been mediocre in 35 starts since 2019 with a 95 ERA+, 4.69 FIP, and 1.479 WHIP.

Our model loves the Brewers in this game, and we give them a 58.73% chance to win by more than one run, making the Brewers -1.5 a 2-star bet.

San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

San Diego Padres -1.5 (-130): 5 Stars out of 5

Now with the San Diego Padres, former Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher Joe Musgrove will face his old team, and Musgrove has been fantastic in his 10 starts since the 2020 season. Musgrove threw a no-hitter in his last start, and he has pitched to a 154 ERA+ and 2.74 FIP since 2020, making him a well above-average starting pitcher.

The Pirates start Tyler Anderson, who has an ERA+ of 93 and a FIP of 4.48 since 2020, putting him well behind Musgrove in both categories. The Padres also project to have a much better offensive team than the Pirates this year, with FanGraphs projecting 4.90 runs per game for the Padres compared to 4.20 runs per game for the Pirates.

Our model gives the Padres a 67.73% chance to win by more than one run, making the Padres runline a 5-star bet.
