MLB Prop Bets to Target on Monday 9/19/22

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections as a guide and looking at the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook, here are some spots where you can find value today in the prop-betting market.

Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

C.J. Cron To Record an RBI (-105)

With a 5.56 implied run total, we're looking directly to the Colorado Rockies for some player props tonight.

I was shocked when I saw the line for C.J. Cron to record an RBI at only -105. He's the clean-up hitter for a team at Coors Field -- the best hitter's park in the league -- and we're getting him at near even money to record a simple RBI.

Cron has been solid this season with a 117 wRC+, .358 wOBA, .215 ISO, 37.6% fly-ball rate, and 32.1% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers.

He'll be up against Jakob Junis, who has allowed a .381 SLG, 3.88 xFIP, 1.01 HR/9, 36.9% fly-ball rate, and 33.1% hard-contact rate to righties. Junis isn't necessarily the worst pitcher in the league, but he also isn't a pitcher we need to fear.

This is also a game at Coors Field, giving us an elite hitting environment to help with the RBI, which is why it's reasonable to add Cron 2+ RBI (+330).

Tyler Wells Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-110)

For a strikeout prop, we turn to Tyler Wells of the Baltimore Orioles.

Wells has been a bit up and down this season, but he's been showing some nice strikeout potential in recent starts. Overall, Wells has a 17.9% strikeout rate, which is below the league average of 22.3%.

However, Wells has hit a groove in some recent outings, posting a 28.6% strikeout in his last start while being at or above 24.0% in three of his five starts prior to heading to the injured list.

Tonight, he takes on the Detroit Tigers, who come in with a 25.3% strikeout rate versus right-handed pitchers, which is the fourth-worst in the league.

This is a very favorable matchup for Wells to continue showing off a high strikeout rate and hit over 4.5 strikeouts.
