The Blue Jays were spenders at the trade deadline, and so far, so good.
When Toronto traded for shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, they had just a 14.35% chance of winning the American League East.
After a week and a half of play and a weekend sweep against the division-leading Yankees, Toronto now sits just a game and a half back of New York. But according to our algorithms, the Blue Jays are now the best team in baseball with a 1.07 nERD and, despite sitting in second in the division, actually have better odds than the Yankees to win it.
It's pretty incredible, but the sweep shifted their division-winning probability from 32.12% all the way to 52.80%.
I'd say this Tulo deal is working out just fine.
