Building daily fantasy baseball lineups can be intimidating. On any given slate, you have a massive number of options in front of you and a ton of factors to consider.
We're here to help take some of that burden off and break down some hitters who you can slot into your lineup for nice and cheap, while still being well-positioned to provide your lineup with solid fantasy production.
Let's take a look at where we can find value on today's slate.
Matt Carpenter, 3B, St. Louis Cardinals
FanDuel Price: $3,200
Matt Carpenter is hitting in the lead-off spot for the Cardinals this year, and draws a favorable matchup today.
Williams Perez will be on the mound for Atlanta, and while he's only thrown a shade under 60 career innings against lefties, his numbers aren't promising, allowing a .374 wOBA and sporting a 12.8 percent strikeout rate.
With a .372 wOBA and .164 ISO, Carpenter has been very successful against right-handers through his career. He matches up well with Perez, and hitting first for St. Louis means he should see plenty of at-bats atop thetoday as well.
Miguel Sano, OF, Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $3,200
Edinson Volquez will take the mound for Kansas City today, and he's one of the weaker starting pitchers on the slate. He sports a career 4.27 SIERA, with a 10.9 percent walk rate that is the highest among today's starters.
Miguel Sano is a righty who, despite what his batting average says, has actually hit better against right-handed pitching so far in his career, with a .386 wOBA and .255 ISO. He also sports a better walk and strikeout rate against righties.
Ben Zobrist, 2B, Chicago Cubs
FanDuel Price: $2,800
Ben Zobrist is coming off of one of the better seasons of his career in 2015, and is off to a strong start this year.
He has a good matchup today against Arizona righty Shelby Miller at the hitter-friendly Chase Field.
Zobrist has a career .338 wOBA and .166 ISO against right-handers, with a 14.9 percent strikeout rate. He's also a switch hitter whose numbers are actually a bit better against lefties, giving him a bit of extra safety and value if the Diamondbacks happen to bring a lefty out of the bullpen at any point.
Devin Mesoraco, C, Cincinatti Reds
FanDuel Price: $2,300
Devin Mesoraco is an absolute steal for $2,300 today.
He will be up against Pirates lefty Jeff Locke, whose career 4.72 SIERA and 9.2 percent walk rate are encouraging. The game is also being played in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark.
Mesoraco has done his best work against left-handers through his career, with a .364 wOBA, .176 ISO 13.7 percent strikeout rate and 32.1 percent hard-hit rate. He's hugely under-priced today, and offers great value.
