Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, we will not be including the game at Coors Field here. The over/under is 11.5 for a reason, but you likely don't need me to tell you that you should be using batters who are playing there. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
St. Louis Cardinals
Milwaukee Brewers starter Wily Peralta has had himself a rough few weeks. Through his first two starts this year, his ERA is chilling at 10.80, and he has walked as many guys as he has struck out. Unfortunately for him, the road doesn't look to ease up today.
Peralta will be going up against a St. Louis Cardinals offense that had a 102 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers last season. That's a solid number to begin with, but when you toss in that Peralta had a 4.75 SIERA and a 12.6% strikeout rate last year, your stacking senses should start to tingle. New Busch Stadium may not be the best park for our purposes, ranking 20th in three-year average park factor, but it'll work when the other stars align like this.
Randal Grichuk has had a brutal start to the season, slashing .182/.333/.273 through his first 27 plate appearances. That has sent his price skidding all the way down to $2,400 on FanDuel and $3,600 on DraftKings. That doesn't change the fact, though, that he had a 41.5% hard-hit rate against right-handed pitchers last year with a 37.0% fly-ball rate. Peralta's inability to generate strikeouts adds to Grichuk's value, and I'd be looking to buy while the price is low, assuming he's in the lineup.
