Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is in the starting lineup on Tuesday against right-hander Kohei Arihara and the Texas Rangers.
Langeliers is the top prospect in the Athletics' organization and he was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon. He will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth in his MLB debut on Tuesday, replacing Chad Pinder in the starting lineup. In other roster moves, the Athletics placed Ramón Laureano on the injured list and released Stephen Piscotty.
Langeliers slashed .283/.366/.510 with 19 home runs and 19 doubles in 92 games for Triple-A Las Vegas this season.
