The Cincinnati Reds selected the contract of outfielder Henry Ramos from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Ramos was called up to replace Jason Vosler (DFA) on the active roster. He will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Monday's series opener versus right-hander Nathan Eovaldi and the Texas Rangers. It will be the first MLB action for the 31-year-old switch-hitter since an 18-game stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2021.
Eovaldi has a 5.40 ERA through 21 2/3 innings this season, but his 3.06 xFIP and 3.38 SIERA suggest potential positive regression against the Reds. He has a 25.8% strikeout rate and Eovladi's 4.3% walk rate is second-best among Monday's projected starters. Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Reds' implied total is 4.17 and the game total is 8.5.
