Baltimore Orioles infielder Joey Ortiz will make his MLB debut in Thursday's series opener against left-hander Joey Wentz and the Detroit Tigers.
The Orioles called up Ortiz from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday and sent Terrin Vavra down. The 24-year-old top-100 prospect will start on second base and bat ninth in his first taste of MLB action. Adam Frazier will move to right field and hit seventh. Anthony Santander will be the designated hitter and cleanup man while Ryan Mountcastle starts on first base and hits third. Ryan O'Hearn will be available off the bench. Ryan McKenna will replace Vavra in left field and bat eighth.
numberFire’s models project Santander ($2,700) for 11.5 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Orioles' implied total is 4.33 and the game total is 8.0. Wentz has a 5.39 SIERA, 18.9% strikeout rate, 10.8% walk rate, and 28.8% ground-ball rate through four starts in 2023.
