Washington Nationals infielder Michael Chavis is not in the lineup versus right-hander Yu Darvish and the San Diego Padres in Tuesday's series opener.
Chavis will move back to the bench after making a rare start last game. Luis Garcia will return to second base and the two-hole for the Nationals.
