The Seattle Mariners have traded closing pitcher Paul Sewald to the Arizona Diamondbacks for a trio of players, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
It's a sellers market, and not that Seattle is selling per se, but they saw value in parting with a reliever to stock up on positional players. Dominic Canzone, Josh Rojas and Ryan Bliss are the ones shipping up to the Pacific Northwest, and we'll see how they fit it on the MLB roster. As for Arizona, Sewald figures to fit into the backend of the pen alongside Andrew Chafin and Miguel Castro.
In 43.0 innings pitched across 45 games this season, Sewald is 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 60 strikeouts, 14 walks and 21 saves.
