The San Diego Padres are acquiring left-handed starter Rich Hill and first baseman Ji-Man Choi from the Pittsburgh Pirates for left-hander Jackson Wolf, outfielder Estuar Suero, and infielder Alfonso Rivas.
Hill will join his 13th different MLB club, tying him with Octavio Dotel for second-most all time behind Edwin Jackson (14). The 43-year-old gives the Padres another southpaw in the rotation as they try to earn a ticket to the postseason.
Hill averaged 24.9 FanDuel points and went 7-10 in 22 starts for the Pirates this season. He registered a 4.76 ERA and elevated 5.59 xERA (bottom 9th percentile of MLB), with a 39.4% hard-hit rate, 19.6% strikeout rate, and 8.9% walk rate.
