The San Diego Padres are acquiring first baseman Garrett Cooper and right-handed pitcher Sean Reynolds from the Miami Marlins in exchange for left-handed pitcher Ryan Weathers.
Cooper provides the Padres an upgraded bat at first base over Jake Cronenworth. The 32-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
Cooper averaged 8.6 FanDuel points in 82 games for the Padres this season while slashing .256/.296/.426 with 13 homers and 46 RBI across 324 plate appearances.
