Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed pitcher Joe Mantiply is expected to work as the opener in Monday's series opener against the Texas Rangers.
Mantiply will be called upon after righty Slade Cecconi was scratched on Monday afternoon. He has made 20 appearances and one start for Arizona this season, so the lefty will likely only last an inning or two in Monday's opener.
Mantiply has a 6.65 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 19.3% strikeout rate this season. Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Rangers have one of the highest implied totals on the board ahead of Monday's game at batter-friendly Chase Field.
