The San Diego Padres will not have Matt Carpenter in their starting lineup for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Carpenter will move to the bench Monday while the Padres have Manny Machado return to the lineup at designated hitter. Machado will bat fourth.
Carpenter has converted his 237 plate appearances into 5 home runs, 18 runs, 31 RBI, and a .176 average.
