Colorado Rockies infielder Elehuris Montero will start at designated hitter and bat eighth in Friday afternoon's series opener against right-hander Jameson Taillon and the Chicago Cubs.
Montero is sliding down the order after going 4-for-24 (.167) with 12 strikeouts over the last week. Charlie Blackmon will shift to right field Friday and Sean Bouchard will return to the bench.
