The New York Yankees did not list Giancarlo Stanton in their starting lineup for Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals.
Stanton will catch a breather on Friday while the Yankees have Oswald Peraza join the lineup at third base and have him hit seventh against the Royals. Aaron Judge will fill Stanton's shoes at designated hitter and Oswaldo Cabrera will start in right field.
Stanton hit a solid 24 homers over 415 plate appearances this season, but struggled with the rest of his game. He has hit for a career-low .191 average with 43 runs and 60 RBI so far in 2023 as the season winds down.
