Texas Rangers outfielder Robbie Grossman will start at designated hitter and bat third in Game 1 of the Wild Card Round against right-hander Tyler Glasnow and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Grossman only posted a .633 OPS against righties this season, compared to a .952 OPS versus southpaws, but Rangers manager Bruce Bochy is sticking the veteran in the lineup versus Glasnow. Jonah Heim is starting at catcher over Mitch Garver for the first game of the playoffs.
