The Seattle Mariners placed pitcher Taijuan Walker on the 15-day disabled list with right foot tendinitis.
In order to figure out the extent of the injury, Walker will see a foot/ankle specialist on Thursday. The initial diagnosis of right foot tendinitis occurred at the end of June, and it caused Walker to leave Tuesday's start after four innings against the Houston Astros. Mike Montgomery will take his place in the rotation on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals.
Walker owns a 3.66 ERA and a 3.95 xFIP in 86 innings pitched this season, and his 22.4 strikeout percentage is above the league average of 21.0 percent. Our models currently project him to record a 4.19 ERA and an 18.1 strikeout percentage over the rest of the season.
