Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani (elbow, oblique) has been participating in batting practices with his new team already this offseason.
Ohtani underwent surgeries this offseason to address core muscle and elbow injuries, but appears to be progressing well in his recovery. After Tommy John surgery he won't be expected to take the mound as a pitcher until 2025, but it seems as though he could be ready to bat by Opening Day barring any setbacks.
Assuming he makes it through Spring Training without any setbacks, Ohtani should go near the top of 2024 fantasy drafts as a hitter. His 44 home runs led the American League while his 1.066 OPS led all of Major League Baseball. The AL MVP even added 20 stolen bases a season ago while only getting caught 6 times.
