New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz (ACL) told reporters this week at Spring Training that he is "feeling 100% already" for the upcoming season.
Diaz suffered an incredibly unfortunate, season-ending knee injury just before the start of the 2023 campaign while celebrating a victory with his teammates in the World Baseball Classic. After having a full year to recover, though, it sounds like he should be a full go for the upcoming season as the Mets' top closer.
Diaz racked up 32 saves in each of his two last healthy seasons with New York and should be expected for similar numbers this season. With David Robertson now a member of the Texas Rangers, Diaz should face little resistance in the Mets' lineup for closing opportunities.
