St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (oblique) has been cleared to resume limited baseball activities.
Carpenter was fielding grounders and throwing to first base on Friday, but he is yet to swing the bat since going down with his oblique injury. He is shooting for a return in early August, but it will likely be closer to the middle of the month until he returns to big league games.
Carpenter is sporting a massive .414 wOBA and .270 ISO on the year, while his 3.18 nERD ranks ninth in the majors. He's logged 14 jacks and 53 RBI's with a .568 slugging percentage across 351 appearances at the plate.
