Cincinnati Reds outfielder Spencer Steer will start in left field and bat cleanup in Monday's series opener against right-hander George Kirby and the Seattle Mariners.
Steer appears to have taken over as the Reds' primary cleanup hitter against righties. He went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks, a stolen base, and a run scored in Sunday's series finale against the Chicago white Sox. Jeimer Candelario, who used to be Cincinnati's cleanup man against right-handers, will hit seventh again on Monday.
numberFire's models project Steer for 7.8 and Candelario for 8.7 FanDuel points on Monday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Reds have the second-worst implied total (3.21) in the majors today, while the game total (7.0) is the lowest on the board.
