Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the torn UCL in his left thumb.
Christian Adames is the probable replacement at shortstop for the Rockies moving forward. Story will wrap up his stellar 2016 rookie campaign with 27 home runs, 72 RBI's and a .909 OPS across 415 plate appearances. His .380 wOBA ranks 19th in the bigs, while his .296 ISO is the third-highest. Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is now an easy frontrunner for Rookie of the Year honors in the National League.
Story currently ranks 22nd in the majors with a 2.45 nERD. The Rockies are 4.5 games out of a playoff spot and we give them just a 2.80 percent chance of making the postseason. Story's absence certainly won't help these odds.
