Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow) is not expected to return this season, according to manager Dave Roberts.
Ryu returned from shoulder surgery just before the All-Star break for his first start in the big leagues since the 2014 season. In that July 7 outing, he allowed six runs over just 4 2/3 innings before winding up back on the disabled list with an elbow injury. He hasn't picked up a ball since, and the Dodgers aren't optimistic about a 2016 return for the 29-year-old left-hander. After being limited to just one start over the past two seasons with a myriad of shoulder, groin and elbow issues, it remains to be seen if he'll be able to regain previous form after such an elongated time away from the mound.
Ryu currently owns a 3.28 ERA and 20.65 strikeout percentage across 348 2/3 major league innings for his career (57 starts).
