Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards was removed from Wednesday's start versus the Oakland Athletics due to a right biceps cramp.
Richards is already pitching with a slightly torn ulnar collateral ligament, so there was plenty of concern on Wednesday night when he was forced to leave early with an apparent arm injury. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like it will be a major issue and Angels manager Mike Scioscia said the 28-year-old right-hander won't require an MRI.
Richards allowed three hits while punching out four and walking one across 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday. numberFire's metrics project him to record a 3.79 ERA over the remainder of the season.
