Today, we find ourselves in the middle of a wave of stat-sheet stuffing NBA stars like Russell Westbrook, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Westbrook, who is currently averaging a triple-double, takes center stage and has often been compared to The Big O, Oscar Robertson.
He and the other three players above -- not to mention various other players -- possess the ability to go off for a triple-double, or at least put a dash in every category, on any given night. In this era, we can easily pick out these types of players by looking at an advanced stat called box plus-minus, or BPM.
Box plus-minus is a box score estimate of the points per 100 possessions a player contributes above league-average, translated to an average team. It accounts for statistical production dating back to the 1973-74 season, when all the necessary information is first historically available from which to extract BPM rates.
Since that year, which players have the most double-digit BPM seasons to their name? Here they are, listed from No. 8 to No. 1.
