Ranking All 30 NBA Franchises From 2000-01 to 2015-16 Using Advanced Analytics
According to the numbers, which franchises have been the best since the turn of the century?

14. Indiana Pacers

Technically, the Indiana Pacers are knotted up with New Orleans with a composite ranking of 69. However, the Pacers get the nod by possessing one of the best defenses in the league over the course of the 16 seasons.

With a defensive rating of 103.4, they rank third, mostly a credit to Coach Frank Vogel in his five years manning the sideline.

What prevents them from appearing in the top 10 is their inefficient offense. They're eighth in net rating and 10th in nERD, but just 25th in offensive rating and 23rd in effective field goal percentage.
