In the last 16 seasons, the New York Knicks rank 29th in nERD and dead last in defensive rating (107.5). As you can imagine those are large contributors to a composite of 125.

Although they've earned an average effective field goal percentage of 49.02%, the Knicks have simply failed to mount impressive seasons. Only twice have they finished over .500 and just once -- in 2012-13 -- did they tally more than 50 wins in a single campaign. The Knicks made it to the Eastern Conference semis that year -- the only time they've made it beyond the first round in five tries.
